Kristina gave birth Thanksgiving morning. Baby Skylar entered the world as a preemie– 34 weeks and 5 days gestation– several hours after her mother’s water broke. Doctors told the distraught parents that their daughter probably wouldn’t survive the night. But she made it. As I type this she’s a week old and defying the odds. She’s far from out of the woods, however. Poor Skylar remains in the hospital on a ventilator, unable to move or open her eyes. I am in awe of Kristina. Not only does she cope with a seriously ill daughter– from whom she is separated– but she must remain strong for her other kids. Undoubtedly I speak for everyone who knows her when I say I feel completely helpless and wish there was something I could do.
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. Brandon and Andrew should be cuddling their little sister. Kristina and Steven need to be home with all three of their children. I know my friend is a fighter….here’s to praying she gets the miracle she deserves.
With infinite love, gratitude, and respect,
