Yesterday proved to be another glorious fall day. The air was cool and crisp. Some of the leaves are starting to turn. Both UT and Ole Miss won in football. I enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte. And two incredible couples got married! If I can ever stop buying shoes I’ll get them wedding gifts. 😉

Even though he is no longer my stepcousin Chris will always be family to me. I first met him the summer before I entered high school on a family vacation to Grandmother Gene’s. Reeling from a brutal eighth grade year, my self-esteem was at an all time low. He brought me out of the blackness and taught me to always stay true to myself. We lost touch until Adam Sontag died. My parents took Caroline and me to California shortly after his death– and there he was to help me through my grief. Although we don’t talk frequently– and have been known to let our communications fizzle [which is a lot harder now thanks to Facebook!]– I consider him to be one of my best friends. Knowing that he has a life partner in Andrea brings joy to my heart. I’ve never had the privilege of meeting her but I hope that we can get to know each other better. During my ordeal in California they offered to let me stay with them so I could have a safe place and get away from the central coast….that meant the world to me. I wish I could have been there watching them exchange vows yesterday. Wishing you a lifetime full of happiness, Andrea and Chris!

Katelin and I became close during the two years I dated her brother. When we went our separate ways it was especially painful because it felt like I was breaking up with his family too. They were very much a part of my son’s life– and I know it must have been difficult for them to essentially lose Adam overnight. I’d welcome the opportunity for Adam to become reacquainted with his ‘aunts’ and ‘Memaw & Papaw’ several years after the fact….but I digress. Let’s stick to the bride. Despite the unfortunate fact that she’s a Republican with redneck tendencies [heh heh], we’reand I are quite similar in many other ways. Both of us have quite the mouths and we’re not shy about sharing our opinions. She’s a pistol, that’s for sure. Brandon will have his hands full in the best possible way. It takes a special kind of man to be with somebody as sassy as Kate. I know he’s up to the task. He treats her like a queen and she loves him deeply. Katelin and Brandon, I wish you the absolute best in your life together as husband and wife.
With infinite love, gratitude, and respect,
