Happy birthday to my dear friend and fellow Leo, Kenn Hackett!  His birthday is August 14th so he’ll still be celebrating on the central coast even though it’s no longer his special day here in Memphis.

The two weeks I stayed with him were some of my favorite times in the 805.  Long before I ever [temporarily] moved in, I was enamored with his house.  And his spectacular hot tub.  So much so I named the property ‘Paradise in Atown’– which is really saying something because there are no positive words to describe Atascadero.  Kenn, where do I even begin?  One of the first times you met me you gave me the entire Russian collection for Rosetta Stone.  Other than the days I gave birth and the day I left California I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy!  Remember that time I had a panic attack and got lost near your house and you raced to the car and came looking for me?  It made me feel good to know that you cared enough to drop what you were doing and rescue me.  Speaking of rescue– I very much appreciate that time you protected me from the crazy woman.  I miss the late night meals at Denny’s at the nights in the hot tub.  My neck hurt for weeks after I left from all the hours I sat staring straight up into the sky looking at the stars.  I’ll never forget when we had to go to Santa Maria at 4am so I could catch the shuttle to LAX….so we decided to go to Chumash casino and kill a few hours.  I miss you so much and I hope you had a great day.

With infinite love, gratitude, and respect,

Sloane

About Cocktails With Hemingway

I'm blunt and opinionated. Virtually everything I say or do is a contradiction but I'm not a hypocrite. I never hesitate to speak my mind and never fail to leave an impression wherever I go. You love me, you hate me, but you'll never forget me.
