D and I went for our second date Tuesday night. He took me to dinner at the Half Shell. I enjoyed fried Gouda tots, a beefsteak salad, and two glasses of pinot noir while he feasted on the seafood sampler. Originally the plan was to see Fruitvale Station after our meal but we decided to take a rain check. Both of us were exhausted and wanted to be at our best for the movie. Like me he enjoys ‘thought pieces,’ what I call those films serve as the catalyst for intense and opinionated dialogue. As we drove back to my house D and I had a great discussion about our mothers and I felt like it gave me an opportunity to get to know him better. He was surprisingly cool with the fact that I gave my mother his cell phone number [due to my own phone malfunctioning] and is very understanding overall of my crazy schedule. I’ve had to bail on him once and reschedule a second time and he gave me no stress about it The second somebody causes me even the slightest bit of stress….next.
On a completely unrelated note– let me take a moment to praise our waitress at Half Shell. Her otherwise dull work ensemble was enhanced by a fabulous pair of pink Kangaroos! She told me that the company went out of business and she’d had her pair since junior high. I miss my green ‘roos…and think they have lots to do with my choice in leprechaun Merrells as my athletic shoe.
With infinite love, gratitude, and respect,
