Things are going so well for me. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. My life is so….normal. It’s quiet. By some standards even boring [though certainly not dull] and that’s exactly what I need.
On June 15th John and Sloane celebrated their 8th birthday. I cannot believe how time flies! It seems like only yesterday they were born. I found an entry in my diary from June 2005 that discusses their arrival in detail and how excited I was to meet them. Had you told me then that I would have had a child of my own three years later I would have laughed in your face. You’re a great mom, Maris.
Father’s Day is the June version of Mother’s Day for single mothers like me. For those of us who serve both parental roles, we’ll celebrate both holidays, thank you very much. With my extended family in tow [including Ashley and her boyfriend, Patrick], we ventured towards our favorite Sister Sunday destination, Olive Garden. Thank you, Josh, for treating us. =)
Lately I’ve reconnected with my next door neighbor at our family home, Sarah. We’ve come a long way from our childhood chats on the fence dividing our houses and bonded as adults. Whenever I get a day off from work I’ll definitely be taking a dip in that sparkling pool that looks so tantalizing from our upstairs windows….hint hint.
Being with my children, parents, family, and closest friends is all I could ask for in life. The fact that I’ve got an amazing job on top of that is icing on the cake. Life is good.
With infinite love, gratitude, and respect,
